Our Levels of Care | Acqua Recovery in Colorado
Expert Addiction Treatment in Boulder, Colorado
At Acqua Recovery, we understand that recovery is a personal journey that requires personalized treatment. Our Colorado locations in Fort Collins and Boulder offer comprehensive addiction treatment programs designed to meet you where you are in your recovery process.

Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP)
Our Partial Hospitalization Program provides structured, intensive treatment while allowing you to return home each evening. PHP represents our highest level of outpatient care, offering a comprehensive treatment experience that addresses both substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions.
In our PHP program, you’ll participate in multiple therapeutic sessions each day, including:
- Individual therapy sessions with licensed clinicians
- Small and large group therapy focused on specific recovery topics
- Specialized trauma therapy to address underlying issues
- Skill-building sessions for managing cravings and preventing relapse
- Holistic interventions such as mindfulness practices and experiential therapies
PHP provides the structure and support of residential treatment while allowing you to practice recovery skills in your home environment each evening. This balance helps bridge the gap between inpatient care and everyday life.
- Schedule: Monday-Friday, 9:30 AM – 3:00 PM (Lunch: 12:30 PM – 1:30 PM)
- Ideal for: Individuals stepping down from residential treatment, those who need intensive care but have a stable living situation, or clients who require structured daytime support
- Focus: Comprehensive evidence-based treatment for substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions
Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)
Our Intensive Outpatient Program offers a flexible yet structured approach to addiction treatment that allows you to maintain your daily responsibilities while receiving quality care. IOP is designed to provide continued therapeutic support and accountability as you navigate early recovery and reintegrate into your community.
In our IOP, you’ll engage in a variety of therapeutic interventions:
- Group therapy sessions addressing addiction education, relapse prevention, and emotional regulation
- Regular individual therapy to address your specific recovery needs and challenges
- Internal Family Systems work to understand and heal underlying trauma patterns
- Practical skill development for managing triggers and building healthy coping mechanisms
- Specialized therapies including art therapy, music therapy, and trauma-informed approaches
IOP provides an ideal balance of support and independence, allowing you to apply recovery principles in real-world situations while maintaining regular connection with clinicians and peers. Many clients transition to IOP after completing PHP, creating a seamless continuum of care that gradually increases autonomy while maintaining necessary support.
Our IOP programs are perfect for individuals transitioning from higher levels of care or those who need structured support while maintaining work, school, or family obligations. This level of care helps bridge the gap between intensive treatment and independent recovery.
We offer flexible IOP options to accommodate your schedule and responsibilities across both Colorado locations:
- Schedule: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday from 9:30 AM – 12:30 PM
- Ideal for: Those with evening work schedules or family responsibilities
- Schedule: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday from 5:30 PM – 8:30 PM
- Ideal for: Individuals who need to maintain daytime employment or educational commitments
